Marja van Putten & Wim Vonk
Joint exhibitions
Marja van Putten and Wim Vonk advocate creativity without limits and obstacles, creation without restrictions and free presentation. Ever since their first joint exhibition in 1999, Van Putten and Vonk have been partners in art and thus partners in crime when it comes to propagating their own creative style. This post-punk mentality initially opposed the then prevailing ‘less is more’ mentality in visual art, but is still non-conformist.
In their art, Van Putten and Vonk want to show that the world is complex and layered. That everything around us is interconnected and interrelated. There is no standing still, the universe -and with it the arts- is permanently in motion and constantly changing. Whereas for some, this complexity scares them off because of its infinity, Van Putten and Vonk are enthused and delighted by the phenomenon of complexity. It enables them to keep asking endless questions and transform them into art that touches, tells and amazes. Again and again and again with a surprising interpretation.
